Worked with students at Western Oregon University on spiritual discernment, community building, and mindfulness in values based living. (Western Compass is a progressive, ecumenical group of churches in the area who support campus ministry at WOU, and on campus, Western Compass is an organization that ministers to students. The Program Director works with both the ecumenical board supporting campus ministry AND the students on campus, to determine how best to serve student needs.)Explored and developed ministries with students including:-Weekly mindfulness meditation groups-Weekly community care dinners-Retreats on values based living and spiritual discernment (1 per semester)-Yearly mission and social justice trips

I was honored to learn about youth in their complicated time of growth and change. It was an immensely rewarding challenge!My role as youth director included:-facilitating a safe discussion space for hot topics-creating thought-provoking and fun activities-facilitating a space for middle school youth to plan a week long mission trip, fundraising efforts, and group coordination-coordinating volunteer projects with other churches-bonding with the youth and church community-planning and leading youth group-organizing and communicating schedules on a weekly basisStarting June 2015, took on additional role as Director of Intergenerational Discipleship: worked with congregants of all ages to find discipleship opportunities such as small groups, Bible studies, volunteer positions, and community organizations. Supported congregants in finding their best place to participate and support the rest of the congregation and community.Responsibilities included:-Reviewing potential small group and Bible studies for relevance to our congregation, then recommending participants if there is a call for it in our congregation.-Organizing opportunities for congregants who request specific involvement.-Providing support for small groups as they go through their class, be it through leadership, presence, or prayers.-Communicating with congregants about organizing times and any leadership, while being a resource for any questions or concerns.

Vocational Exploration Intern in Career Services from May 2013-June 2015. Assisted in writing curriculum for the freshmen Compass program, a 1-hour/week class that helped students discern values, skills, strengths, and what they could gain from a liberal arts degree. Along with my supervisor, Jeani Bragg, I taught the course and provided students with feedback on their progress.During my time as an intern, I also:-created a 2-tiered hiring process with a team to hire 40 students as TAs-interviewed and recommended new hires for the office-organized all curriculum and documents into digital format in specific folders by year/topic-taught Big Life Plan, a vocational exploration seminar for college studentsSimultaneously worked as Student Staff in Career Services from August 2013-May 2015.Responsibilities included:-proficiency in JobCat, a career services management system-communication skills via phone, email, and in-person-customer service positivityInterim Compass Program Coordinator from June-August 2015. Tour Guide for Office of Admissions, May 2012-December 2013. Led campus tours, attended trainings, answered questions for prospective families.From May-August 2013, took on competitive Summer Visit Intern role with Office of Admissions. Led campus tours, answered questions for prospective families, staffed front desk, responded to visit requests, supported counselors in various projects (including budget and communications), and other various program responsibilities.Simultaneously acted as Prospective Student Host for Office of Admissions from 2011-2013. Hosted students overnight and at lunch, answered questions from parents and students, kept up to date on current Willamette facts and information.

Supervised children, attended trainings and meetings, initiated learning activities/snack preparation/entertainment, provided first aid.

Worked with different learning styles and behavioral challenges. Involved tutoring on weekdays and weekly planning. Researched and examined effectiveness of different teaching techniques in math computation and reading comprehension. Increased report card grades from meeting to exceeding standards in reading, writing, and math.

Supervised children as childcare lead for several families in the church. Initiated learning activities, snack preparation, entertainment, and first-aid. Managed infants through middle school age on Sunday mornings (4-5 hours) and Wednesday evenings (2-3 hours).
