CREATE is a grant from SAMHSA. We are focusing on 2 populations of Health 1.) Medically Complex and 2.) LGBTQ+. We will include training in Health care transitioning and Adult Transitioning.

Support group for families with youth and young adults with mental health disorders

I am currently providing education advocacy, Mental Health First Aid Training's (Youth and Adult) and consulting for organizations and families. Training's will include Mental Health, special education law, First Person language, Autism Awareness, How to Advocate for your child, various Disabilities and much more. I have provided advocacy for youth and families in various settings including the school systems in Northeast Florida for over 18 years. I have Advocated in thousands of IEP, 504, Manifest Determination and Resolution meeting in Florida.I am a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist with the State of Florida. I have been trained to assist individuals to engage with peers in a community-based recovery, or outside it around any number of activities, or over the telephone. The peer support specialist can work with individuals as they develop and implement a personal recovery plan. I am a Certified SOAR Process (SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access, and Recovery), I assist people and families in filling out and filing Social Security Paperwork.I have developed relationships with many school district, Sheriff Offices, Community Organizations, etc. I live in Duval County in Florida and I am currently on the following committees/Boards; The Tools for Success Conference Planning Committee, Exceptional Student Education Advisory Counsel, SHAC-Behavioral Health Subcommittee and Mental Health Committee, Federation of Families, Developmental Disabilities Talk Shop, Family Care Council, Autism Society of Florida Board Member. I have presented across the country including Washington DC on various topics. I have trained several sheriff counties in Autism Awareness, Intellectual Disabilities and Mental HealthI am a Certified Exceptional Special Education teacher. Project AWARE Program Coordinator : Provide trainings in Youth and Adult Mental Health First Aid for the Jacksonville Community. Federal Grant Management from the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Collect Data, Analyze and evaluate Data, MOU’s, Collaboration with Community Leaders and Organizations, input training data into the National MHFA System and the Federal Government TRAC/SPAR System. Attending meetings and trainings. Provide education advocacy support to families in our community. Provide trainings on IDEA, ASD, 504 Plans, IEP, Mental Health, Intellectual Disabilities, Communication with Person First Language, and others. Collaborated on Florida Mental Health Summit, The Ripple Effect Mental Health Awards, Department of Education State management Team for AWARE (Mental Health in schools) Provide trainings in Intellectual Disabilities and Mental Health for Police Officers and Crisis Intervention Teams across Florida. Formerly Family Advocate and Parent Partner Supervisor, Provide leadership role in advocacy measures of Jacksonville System of Care; Actively recruit and engage families becoming members of the Federation of Families of Northeast Florida chapter; Serve as the supervisor for the Parent Partner program (Hiring, training and Supervision) , Responsible for advocating for the needs for families involved in the system of care (Education, Juvenile Justice, Foster Care, Homeless and Early Childhood); Provide perspective on behalf of parents and youth to the JSOC Management Team in developing, implementing and evaluating the system of care; Recognize and provide representation for the cultural and linguistic background of the Jacksonville population served by JSOC; Coordinate and/or provide support services for families receiving services; Provide training and support to families in all aspects of the system.
