Working on obtaining a Master's degree focused on Educational Leadership from American College of Education. Philosophy of Teaching and Learning: Being a teacher means to be curious, to be a lifelong learner, and to collaborate with others to ensure that you are providing the best opportunities for your students. It also means being able to analyze and create situations for students to further their thinking. It is so much more than standing in front of a group of students every day and spitting out curricular statements and expectations. Relationships between students are made, ones that go further than the pages of a textbook or slides in a PowerPoint presentation. Teaching is more than communicating with students over Zoom or through Google Classroom. It is putting meaning behind unknown concepts, taking risks and being gifted with knowledge. Teaching is one of the hardest, but most rewarding things that I do on a daily basis. To see a kindergarten student read a sentence for the first time or to truly understand why 1+1=2 is the greatest feeling in the entire world. The most exciting thing about teaching is that it extends outside of the classroom to anywhere or any time, and anyone can be a teacher or a student. Think about where your best moments of clarity and thought are. Mine are usually in the shower, waking up at three A.M., or listening to my students discuss the world around them. Learning, and therefore teaching, are in a constant state of change. As a result of this change, teachers and learners must be in their best mindsets to adapt and modify their own learning in order to support these changes. So as a teacher, how am I providing these opportunities for my students? By ensuring that I am providing my students with the best academic experiences, positive instructional environments, and providing students with the ability to take responsibility for their own learning, I am ensuring both academic and behavioral success for all learners, including myself.
