The Leadership New York (LNY) program is a nine-month, 175+ hour experiential leadership development program for mid-career and early-executive professionals to develop the personal skills, civic knowledge and a multi-sector network to effectively lead change. Coro is NYC’s premier civic leadership training organization and a community of more than 2,500 alumni with a mission to develop NYC leaders so that all individuals, communities and institutions participate in creating an equitable, just and engaged society.

I structure and negotiate public-private partnerships to spur economic development and create affordable housing, set strategy for ambitious neighborhood-wide development projects, and represent projects before City agencies and community groups.Representative projects include: - Sunnyside Yard: a 180-acre re-development of New York City's most active railyard- Tech Training Center: a 99-year ground lease to transform a two-story retail building into a 21-story Tech Training Center that combines a three-story digital workforce academy with space for start-ups and social entrepreneurs- Ferrara Bros.: closed a 49-year ground lease to a ready-mix concrete manufacturing plant that will bring good maritime industrial jobs to the Sunset Park waterfront- Several mixed-use and mixed-income projects

I negotiated, underwrote, and managed real estate transactions to catalyze economic development throughout New York City's five boroughs through residential, commercial, and industrial projects.As Chief of Staff I re-designed new employee onboarding, oversaw and managed the upgrade of the Department's database and reporting systems to create a comprehensive portfolio-wide tracking of goals, and forecast revenue and expense across 60+ projects.

I researched the state of small business lending policy for a fintech startup focused on providing a more transparent and affordable marketplace for small business credit and prepared a series of research briefs outlining the regulatory environment conditioning the market for small business credit in the U.S. I also proofread op-eds for major publications, including Forbes and The Advocate.

I served as a policy fellow for the Governor's Regional Prosperity Initiative, a signature element of Michigan's economic development strategy. In the summer of 2014, I convened stakeholder meetings, prepared strategy memos to support state re-organization around Prosperity Regions, created external communications material to describe the Governor's economic development policies and programs.

I organized social enterprise career fair for the Harvard Social Enterprise Conference (SECON), one of the largest and most well-respected student-run conferences. My co-chair and I drafted marketing materials, developed an outreach strategy, liaised with potential employers, and organized resume books to connect mission-driven employers to SECON attendees.

I co-authored numerous white papers, case studies, and policy briefs spanning a range of low-income issues, including a report on prepaid unemployment compensation debit cards, comparing the contracts of forty state programs. The report’s recommendations were adopted by nearly all the states with shortcomings, saving unemployed workers between $800,000-$5.2 million annually in fees. I analyzed trends affecting low-income individuals and families and initiated a successful proposal to expand the Center’s research to include the impact of Big Data on access to credit. I drafted testimony for governmental agencies and boards; summarized legal and academic research; and built tables, charts, and infographics to visually depict data. I interviewed business leaders, policy makers, and program managers to ensure that policy recommendations incorporated the experience of practitioners.

I researched and compared various proposed legislation, attended meetings and wrote briefs summarizing hearings and new initiatives. Responded to constituent concerns, aided in the compilation of daily media packets, and drafted an op-ed about a new housing bill.
