The placement has provided experience in all aspects of visitor experience at Wallington. It included attending strategy meetings concerning Bringing Places to Life and experiencing duties across all areas, including working with school groups.A major piece of work involved a specific research project relating to life at Wallington in the 1930s in support of the introduction of volunteer costumed interpreters in the kitchen. I was able to develop materials for the volunteers to inform their roles. I attended interviews and was involved in initial rehearsals for the role.Other activities included selling trails on recent Bank Holiday weekends and helping to develop a marketing survey. The latter involved me interviewing visitors throughout the half-term week about what affected their decision to visit Wallington and which aspects of the site were attractive to them. I then used Excel to analyse the results and presented them to the marketing team.
