Tuberculosis continues to be one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide. Rutgers Global Tuberculosis Institute’s mission is to eliminate tuberculosis. The Lattimore Clinic staff at RGTI use surveillance to see where the highest percentage of TB cases are located in Northern Jersey. This center provides consults, medications, and patient education to help patients manage and recover from TB. As an intern, I was tasked with creating a patient education material that will increase patient compliance rates with the TB medication patients must take. The clinic uses Emocha, which is a form of video Direct Observation Therapy. I reviewed videos and noted any existing flaws to address in the "how to" video. - Interviewed clinic staff and patients - Shadowed nurses that were treating patients with both latent and active TB - Addressed concerns about Emocha that staff and patients had- Held meetings with education and training staff for progress
