I am the supporting / dedicated editor for adrienne maree brown's Emergent Strategy Series, an AK Press imprint informed by brown's groundbreaking book, Emergent Strategy: Shaping Change, Changing Worlds. I support Emergent Strategy Series authors; edit the books in the series; and work to extend the reach of each title, using a variety of platforms and tools. AK Press is a worker-owned, worker-run book publishing and distribution collective, based in Northern California.

As an editor, writer, and educator committed to radical social change, I help to advance the work and mission of several nonprofit organizations and institutions, including AK Press; the Clearing School; the Institute for Research on Race and Public Policy (at the University of Illinois at Chicago); the Prison + Neighborhood Arts Project; and South Side Weekly.

I support, advance, and amplify the work of EqualHealth, a global community of health professionals, educators, and activists dedicated to the fight for health equity, which transcends borders. EqualHealth prepares health professionals to recognize the structural and social determinants of health, and to engage in thoughtful, coordinated activism addressing root causes.

I utilized storytelling and other tools to promote narrative change, and to generate support for the mission of the W. K. Kellogg Foundation and the Foundation's grantees. Racial equity and the health, well-being and advancement of all families and children marginalized by race, ethnicity, class, and/or ability is centered in grant making and programming at WKKF.

My interest areas were Chicago and the Midwest, and works that explored social movements and social justice issues. I also acquired fiction, drama, and literature in translation for NUP's imprints: Curbstone, TriQuarterly, and Northwestern World Classics. And I broadly solicited trade titles to complement the Press' scholarly lists.

Working from Chicago, I acquired, edited, and promoted books for this independently-owned, nonprofit publisher, founded in 1854 and based in Boston. Interest areas: history (especially social movements and African American history); education; prisons and criminalization; and health.

Center For Health And Social Sciences (Chess)

I directed the Center's marketing, media relations, creative editorial, and design services. I also advised Center leadership on development of communications policies and community engagement initiatives.

I oversaw community engagement and fundraising efforts in Midwestern United States for this leading nonprofit organization delivering health care and socioeconomic services in Latin America, Africa, and the U.S. I also created and edited content for website, newsletters, social media.

I created advocacy and outreach tools for nonprofit organization that litigates on behalf of prisoners on death row, people wrongly convicted or charged with violent crimes, juveniles, poor people denied effective representation, and others whose trials are marked by racial bias or prosecutorial misconduct.

I developed and taught graduate seminars on media history, media literacy, and publishing practices and trends for the Master's Program for Publishing and Writing, which provides an overview of the publishing industry through courses in writing, editing, design, production, and distribution.
