He came to NMSU from Los Alamos National Laboratory where he was Project Leader for Radionuclide Geochemistry. Before that, Conca was on the faculty at Washington State University Tri-Cities, and President of UFA Ventures, Inc. Conca obtained a Ph.D. in Geochemistry from the California Institute of Technology in 1985, as well as a Masters in Planetary Science in 1981, and a BS in Geology and Biochemistry from Brown University in 1979.
