When I first became a member of the Multi Media Services team, the church was recoding the service on DVD in audio only. I planned and implemented the addition of equipment to allow for full audio and video recording to local DVD. I then took it on-line by implementing live-streaming of the service on the Internet using Ustream. Unfortunately the free version of Ustream puts ads periodically in your stream and the ads were not in policy with the church’s message, so I was asked to find an alternative. I switched to streaming with the same company that hosts our web site which did not have any ads but only streamed in Windows Media format which made it unable to stream to most mobile devices. The quality on this service was hard to maintain in the beginning but was solved by boosting the Sound Volume and increasing our Internet Bandwidth. Finally while doing some research I discovered that if you applied to YouTube as a nonprofit you could steam directly to YouTube. I worked with the pastor to submit the application and we now we stream to YouTube which fully support most mobile and desktop devices.

While the IT Consultant at Oak Street Christian school I implemented a Linux terminal server. This server enabled the school to use older computers that were not up to current standards. This server gave the school the ability to provide enough computers for student use. I helped the school get internet access after their phone lines had been severed. The replacement phone line could not guarantee a good connection for DSL. To work around this issue I implemented a wireless link between the school and the church buildings. In the process of getting the school internet, the Church gained a network that they are now able to use during church services. Because of this shared network link I have learned the importance of proper change control and how to make changes that are invisible to the users or make sure that the proper people are informed when a change has occurred.
