Prof. James Daniel Johnson, PhD is a Full Professor in the Department of Cellular and Physiological Sciences, in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia. Prof. Johnson’s research focuses on the pathophysiology and signalling mechanisms underlying both type 1 and type 2 diabetes, obesity, longevity, heart disease, Alzheimer's disease and pancreatic cancer, all at the molecular, cellular, and physiological systems levels. He has authored >125 peer-reviewed, high-impact publications, which can be found at Google Scholar (https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=VmEJFc4AAAAJ&hl=en ) along with citations metrics. Prof. Johnson is Editor-in-Chief of Islets and served on the Editorial Boards of Diabetes and of Endocrinology. Prof. Johnson is co-founder and co-CSO of the not-for-profit Institute for Personalized Therapeutic Nutrition (https://www.therapeuticnutrition.org), an organization dedicated to translating basic physiological evidence into better nutrition to treat and prevent diabetes, and related conditions. From March 1 2017 to July 30 2018, Prof. Johnson was the inaugural Site Head of Novo Nordisk Research Centre Oxford, a new hybrid institute with the University of Oxford that focuses on target discovery for type 2 diabetes and adjacent conditions, and Vice President at Novo Nordisk Ltd.
