What matters to me most is solving solid real world technical and business challenges, providing simple solutions to complex systems, building and leading teams that embrace such challenges. I like to think and demonstrate that I come from the school of practical, hands-on engineering and draw upon my varied work and life experiences to generate ideas and the right solution to meet the requirements of any given project. I possess an inquisitive mind, embrace challenge and am unafraid of the unknown as recently demonstrated by stepping off the treadmill and plunging headfirst into entrepreneurship. I have a solid understanding in and respect for the many engineering disciplines, as well as for all the jobs in the life cycle of a product. I understand well the value of work, the challenges and the rewards of a job well done. I understand the difference between working and being worked and that the good comes with the bad.I have over 25 years of experience in product design, technology development, project management, development and validation within international automotive, small power generation, and engineering consulting environments, demonstrating the ability to transfer skills. Projects successfully completed include the acquisition of international business with the Big 3 automotive manufacturers, the development of accelerometer-based passenger safety restraint systems airbag controllers and deployment algorithms, the development of air-fuel oxygen sensor based gasoline engine management algorithms, the development of high temperature solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) control systems and product development of reliable remote power systems, some thermoelectric generator based.I have lived and worked in Canada for 18 years, in Germany for 12 years and grew up and went to school in the UK, the blend of which has resulted in a solid understanding of the different takes on international business relations and working with diverse people from different cultures.
