I am helping to design and develop nucleic acid based molecular diagnostic tests for veterinary infectious disease targets.

Helped to develop and optimize the Invader technology. Designed many, custom DNA Invader® Assays for the detection of “single nucleotide polymorphisms” (SNPs), or insertion/deletion mutations, which are of some phenotypic, clinical or metabolic significance. Developed multiple ASR and IVD Invader®/Invader Plus® tests. Designed and optimized PCR systems. Worked within GLP, and ISO13485 environments. Wrote and implemented protocols, reports, SOPs, product specifications. Wrote and validated test methods. Worked under a quality system, with electronic documentation and training using Project Lifestyle Management, Oracle, Agile, Master Control, and Trackwise.Worked with infectious/potentially infectious samples, universal precautions, aseptic technique, culture of numerous pathogenic microorganisms, Cell culture (HeLa, SiHa, Jurkat, fibroblasts, lymphoblasts), and BSL2 use and training. Used many DNA extraction methods with many sample types.

Developed Molecular Biology kits/reagents for research use in the areas of nucleic acid isolation/ purification, RT PCR, transfection and multiplexing.Started the Molecular Biology products QC department, developed and documented QC specifications and testing methods, performed purity/functional testing of all Molecular Biology products, and trained other QC technicians
