Founded OEM company for custom automation and packaging equipment. Grew the business from a garage start-up, into a 8000+ sq.ft. fully operational manufacturing facility. Acquired the capabilities and technical portfolio of Mardem Manufacturing, a respected OEM specializing in custom packaging and filling equipment, in 11/2009. Developed a container processing line comprised of independant processing modules, resulting in infinite flexibility to the customer. Developed a compact and portable servo driven palletizer with unique design features to process pails, cases or bags, with an available compact footprint of 5' x 6'. Developed a sales network to include numerous Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 clients, and an extensive portfolio of marketing tools and technical capabilities that were presented at numerous showings of the Pack Expo Trade Show.

Worked as a core team member on multi-functional teams tasked to research, develop and introduce new products into the pipeline. Spearheaded characterization of relevant technologies including identifying experimental procedures, authoring experimental protocols, acquiring and/or developing laboratory capabilities, managing laboratory personnel, and analyzing and reporting of experimental outcomes. Identified and formulated mathematical simulation models and used advanced six sigma DOE statistical tools to predict product performance. Authored and made presentations of all results to divisional technical and business leaders.

Manage engineering for 4-axis, servo-driven cartesian robotic palletizers, including approving electro/mechanical design, assembly specifications and identify necessary improvements resulting from customer feedback and field service. Approve and release all proposed layouts of robotic palletizers for integration within fully automated high-speed packaging environment. Assist in engineering for standard product line including case erectors, lid placers, denesters, etc. Design controls and electrical layout for all custom machines, and adhere to customer electrical specifications.

Target manufacturing cost reductions by identifying manual intensive assembly processes and automate with in-house designed proprietary equipment and/or existing market technology. Design semi and fully automated assembly equipment with high-speed precision rotary and linear indexing motion control, pick and place robotic mechanisms, rotary and vibratory parts feeders; interface with ultrasonic and RF welding technology; perform on-line testing for pressure decay and pressure drop; specify all mechanical components (cylinders, bearings, slides, gears, pneumatic components, etc.). Design and build motion control equipment; specify all electrical components (sensors, power supplies, PLC’s, temperature controllers, motor control components, valves, relays, etc.). Program PLC’s (OMRON, Siemens) with advanced ladder logic techniques. Produce detail, assembly and electrical drawings. Generate manufacturing paperwork to implement equipment into production within specified FDA guidelines. Manage daily activities of machinist and technician during machine building stages; supervise machine shop tooling.

Designed/upgraded, specified and purchased, automated equipment to increase cycle rates, and productivity for processing, assembly testing, inspection and packaging of medical devices. Automated systems and processes included ultrasonic plastics welding, on-line conveyor assembly, parts feeders, precision rotary and linear pick and place motion-generating mechanisms. Designed electrical logic circuits (relays, solenoids, valves, limit switches) for machine control systems; interfaced sensors (optical, proximity, thermal, transducer), AC/DC motors with pneumatic cylinders through programmable controllers; troubleshot and debugged electromechanical circuits and PC boards. Drafted machine assembly and related electrical drawings on CAD system.
