In the darkness of the Chesapeake Bay, it was 0100 hours, and the wind was blowing from the north between 15-25 knots. Our 40-foot sailboat was making significant progress from Annapolis to Bermuda. When I gave the command, “Prepare to Tack!” This command, when used while sailing, alerts the crew we are about to change course. While this may seem like a simple task, it takes a high functioning crew that knows precisely what functions to perform and in what order to execute a successful tack – preparation, training, and teamwork are essential. I have applied the lessons I have learned from sailing like leading with confidence, compassion, integrity, and a positive attitude to my work throughout my career. I have committed my career to the belief that everyone deserves safe, effective healthcare at the lowest possible cost. A thoughtful application of technology can significantly improve the care patients receive and deserve. My pursuit is to find new and innovative technology and operational solutions, which improves the care delivered to patients and populations. Does your organization have a patient access strategy that fully leverages your healthcare technology? Does your care model meet your patients where they are? Do you have an active data governance strategy? Does your organization have a plan to address digital health? Does your organization have the capabilities to risk-stratify your patient population? I believe that the best leaders create the most capable teams; that the best organizations are built by teams that leverage competencies and encourage personal and professional growth. My diverse experience and leadership skills will help you meet your strategic and operational goals.
