Life is the greatest game ever invented. And the most fun. Sometimes we can forget that and start to tell ourselves the opposite story- that it is a laborious and doomed ordeal. Heavy stuff! In this version of the story we are without control, agency and hope. By rediscovering, reinstating and cultivating a playful quality in our daily life, we discover alternative truths which promote positive action and change.

Every week 100+ children and young people take over the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School to learn theatre skills ranging from improvisation to verse-speaking. I have been leading this program as well as the highly successful summer schools since 2008, and during that time the project has tripled in size, providing jobs and learning opportunities for dozens of BOVTS students along the way.

The Playground is a multi-award winning theatre company, specialising in family theatre. Our first show, 'Shakespearience!', premiered at The Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2014 before playing The Ambassadors Theatre (West End).
