Working at Meta Reality Labs with a focus on Android and leadership.

At Amazon I have worked in various teams. I am known for being a high performer, with a strong set of leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills. I have been given many recognitions by the leadership, such as play of the quarter for all of Alexa for having a major impact to the Alexa SDK.I have lead teams of engineers for projects involving major core app infrastructures and high impact features. I also have created platform architecture, assisted with designs and overseen feature roll outs. This is in addition to IC work such as deep analysis on high severity issues, individual features and project management.

• Led a scrappy rough app to a modern and cutting edge application. During a critical time where the application was being acquired by HEB. • Oversaw hiring, architecture design, beta tester management, release management, and migration to Kotlin.• Worked directly with senior management, providing estimations and advising on strategic planning.

It was fantastic working with Mobile Assay and their novel solution for helping cure diseases. This was a rare position and I was given the opportunity to accompany the CDC to Haiti to see our work in the field, which helped me analyze the CDC’s tests results. Mobile Assay's core project was an innovative android application that uses 3d printed holders, the front facing camera, and the tablet's screen as a light source to capture Lateral Flow tests. These tests can be used for anything from the detection of deadly diseases to the analysis of neurotoxin in peanut samples and beyond. I handled all aspects of the technical work from Android development, testing, planning, web development, administration and more. Even after I transitioned to Aetna, I stayed on in an advisory position, managing and training the new hires and helping with the direction of the company.

• Led a team of 6 Android engineers on the Aetna flagship application, training the UX team on how to create android-centric designs, decreasing development time by half.• Advised executive management on strategic planning and high-level planning and estimates.• Led efforts to onboard technologies such as RxJava and Kotlin adoption.

I worked on creating the NREL mobility study application. I was the sole Android developer, and was in charge of the complete android portion. Note as the application will not be released to the general public, I can provide a video clip on request. The application is a large scale experiment focused on gathering a users transportation habits and generating greener recommendations.Features included• Heavy use of location services, such as the fuse API and the android GPS location content providers• Communicating with open source libraries for data processing• Heavy use of third party open source libraries to vastly accelerate the design process.• Gathering user data, included scraping the user calendar and providing advanced tools to edit their entries• Multiple collection wizards, with large databases behind them. Ie all the cars in existence and their co2 emissions levels.• Restful and JSON for all communication, including batched uploading of large amounts of location and user data.• Service heavy. The data collection had to be on at all times, except when the user opted for a tracking blackout.Responsibilities:• Create plan and architect an application from the ground up.• Single handedly implement all portions of the application.• Take feature requests and create estimates. Participate in discussions on how the experiment should be conducted.• Interface with multiple open source libraries and universities.• Gather detailed data about the user during the experiment.• Work with the NREL team to create restful services.In addition I helped create tools for their other experiments. These I cannot go into detail, but involved the dynamic creation of UI from XML documents.

Sympoz is a startup which creates premium video media. As they already had a released application I was primarily working on adding and improving features. I also helped them vastly improve the stability of their application. In this roll I become very proficient at using libraries such as GSON in junction with Restful services. As well creating automated UI tests with Espresso.

Worked with a fantastic team of great Engineers. Now that some time has passed I realize how lucky I was to have started my career with such a team. As a college new hire I worked daily with a Sr developer, allowing me the rare to opportunity to start my career with strong engineering skills. As well as reenforcing what it means to create quality world class software. I was also given the opportunity to do whole features on my own from day one.
