In keeping with our Jesuit, Catholic and humanistic mission, Gonzaga University takes seriously its solemn responsibility to safeguard the integrity of our natural world for present and future generations and is committed to being a leader in responsible environmental stewardship.Through the leadership of the Advisory Council on Stewardship and Sustainability (ACSS), Gonzaga University is implementing a comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CAP), which will foster a culture of sustainability that is in balance before the dynamics of our changing world.The Director of Sustainability develops and administers programs and provides advice on policies within the area of sustainability at Gonzaga University with the ultimate goal of fully implementing the University Climate Action Plan, creating a Comprehensive Sustainability Plan, and developing a culture of sustainability at the University.

Supporting, Implementing, and Measuring University Sustainability•Lead advanced assessments of sustainability performance through AASHE STARS.•Manage the innovative Building Dashboard to facilitate reporting, and all campus engagement with resource usage.•Oversee ACUPCC reporting requirements and work to ensure compliance with the tenants of the ACUPCC.•Coordinate all requests for sustainability metrics and survey completion.•Provide staff leadership to campus sustainability committees. Communications•Assist with University sustainability brand development and implementation.•Manage sustainability social media tactics.•Liason with University Communications to develop timely communications tools.•Responsible for expanding the reach of all UB sustainability web and social media content.Fostering Student Engagement and Outreach•Mentor student environmental leaders through attending events, conducting one on one meetings, and facilitating collaborations surrounding large events such as Earth Week at UB.•Provide leadership with coordinating and advancing the Alternative Break Program at UB. •Primary supervisor for the management of student assistants, graduate students, volunteers, and Office of Sustainability internships.•Instructor for University courses that provide students with background in sustainability, experience, and leadership skills.•Advisor for the Professional Environmental Fraternity Alpha Kappa Chi.Community Engagement •Directly assist the Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) in representing the Universities external sustainability strategy.•Serve as a UB liason to community organizations and businesses that are working on initiatives that advance the reach of the University in core strategic areas, under the direction of the CSO.•Represent the University on panels, committees, and boards.•Strategize, plan, and implement high-level sustainability events.
