This regional transportation authority in L. A. County employed 9,000 and had $3 billion annual operations and capital budget during my tenure. The agency constructs subway and light rail lines, operates regional rail and bus systems, and plans and funds regional transportation improvements, including traffic mitigation efforts. Managed a staff of 4-7 professionals, outside public relations counsel, and served as spokesman before press and community groups. Developed issue papers, written documents for the CEO and Board chair, and served as chief media liaison during labor negotiations. Supervised internal and external writing projects and developed and managed proactive public relations programs. Supervised use of professional photographers and also took photos for public relations use. Supervisor: Marc Littman.

This agency provided 80 percent of the bus service in Los Angeles County. Wrote and edited more than 4,000 press documents and served as chief media liaison. Counseled top executives and members of the Board of Directors regarding public relations presentations to the media. I was responsible for media relations programs announcing rail service start-ups and major bus service improvements. I assisted with lobbying effort in Washington D.C. and Sacramento for initial funding of the rail construction program. The SCRTD raised more than $3 billion in local, state, and federal funding support. SCRTD merged with another agency to form the LACMTA.
