In my role as Automation Manager, I was responsible for all electrical and automation process, design, integration, and support. Due to the supportive, inspirational, culture at Arsenal, we were able to develop new methods of controlling facilities that dramatically improved production, efficiency, communication, and response time. We developed new ways of controlling Midsteam compressor facilities as well as new methods for controlling plunger lift systems on natural gas wells. We used advanced data collection techniques that had not been attempted previously in the industry to gather information on the life of a natural gas well and determine what is happening "down hole". This helped to improve production to such a degree that reservoir models had to be reworked and production curves adjusted across the company.

Manage Vavco’s electrical and automation team for our customers in the natural gas industry.Oversee and supervise all technical related jobs. Trend problems being encountered by customers and perform root cause analyses that detail the underlying causes, effects and recommended solutions. Schedule and implement customer site visits and maintenance. Ensure the safety, reliability and effectiveness of all instrumentation, electronics and controls of production facilities. Design, build, test and deploy RTU/PLC code modifications for safety and control systems for well pads, compressor stations, coal-to-natural gas power plant conversions, and more. Work with engineering department on projects. Work with engineering and construction departments to ensure all new production facilities are built to specifications before being turned over to production. Work closely with the SCADA providers to ensure all production facility data is being effectively and optimally presented to end users. Develop, administrate, and maintain SCADA solutions.

My responsibilities include managing all electrical and automation projects for the melt shop and continuous caster departments utilizing all resources including internal resources, contractors, vendors, consulting and engineering firms; while tracking and reporting project status and financial budget forecasts. I also manage the Electronic services department, providing training, guidance, leadership, and assistance on planned, and unplanned, maintenance repairs and improvements. Provide supervision and leadership for contracted engineers, electrical contractors, maintenance employees, and other staff with regard to all electrical, PLC, I&E, electrical design, regulatory compliance, and electrical safety standards. I have overseen and implemented changes to PLC, AC/DC Drive, electrical systems, power distribution, and HMI programs. Ensure that all electrical maintenance activities and projects support optimal production and minimal downtime.

Instrumentation, Electrical & Controls Supervisor for Midwestern Gas Transmission and Guardian Pipeline covering Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Responsible for all electrical and control systems for both pipelines including compressor stations, and other pipeline automation, SCADA, and training of team members. I was responsible for assuring compliance with DOT regulations though internal audits and training; and participated in task force teams for environmental concerns and controls. I supervised the commissioning of two new compressor stations in Illinois and Wisconsin with power distribution ranging from 130K vac down to 480 vac. Worked alongside the mechanical supervisors, measurement supervisors, operations management, and corporate management to insure safety, compliance, and reliability for all assets. Reviewed all records pertaining to the electrical systems for DOT regulations and worked with team members to assure that the DOT regulations were fully understood and followed, along with NEC and OSHA regulations. Trained team members on the NFPA 70E Arc Flash regulations and instituted arc flash studies to bring all systems into compliance. Trained team members, while performing work, in power quality analysis, thermal imaging and maintenance, and other high level predictive electrical maintenance. I was project manager for all electrical projects on both pipelines, including “cradle-to-grave” management. I was responsible for all PLC and HMI program (Rockwell, Siemens, Entronics, WonderWare, FactoryTalk, etc) design, modification, and management. I was responsible for all areas of electrical responsibility (design, management, and maintenance) for meter stations and compressor stations from where the utility power connected to the transformer through to all end devices and control equipment.

Electrical systems and controls engineering/ project manager for all electrical systems and controls in area of responsibility. Planning, organizing, and implementing projects in a professional and timely manner using all resources available; including contractors, maintenance personnel, and vendors. Design, planning, and implementation of machine control modifications. Writing programs for Modicon, Allen Bradley Control Logix, and WonderWare; modifications and updates on said PLC’s. Maintaining calibrations and ISO standards in areas of responsibility. Maintaining prints, program files, CAD files, and drive backups for PLCs, AC and DC drives. Installation of Siemens DC drives, Allen Bradley Powerflex 4, 70, and 700 AC drive systems, Reliance drives, Yaskawa drives, and setup of these drives. Troubleshooting of all electrical systems, and training of maintenance personnel in all areas of electrical maintenance, safety, troubleshooting, and installation.

All areas of electrical maintenance including programming using Allen Bradley PLC 5, SLC500, Micrologix 1000, Modicon, WonderWare, and GE Fanuc. Troubleshooting and maintenance on various AC and DC drives, control systems, and power distribution equipment. Troubleshooting, modifying, and repairing hydraulic systems, and drawing and maintaining prints for this equipment. Preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, record keeping, and utilization of resources in areas of responsibility.
