My experience within the command staff has encompassed Federal, State and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO's). Serving on the development cadre, I lead the National Disaster Medical System's Safety Team Respiratory Fit Test Program within the Program Development Branch of NDMS. As Safety Officer, my responsibilities include execution of the Incident Action Plan, Safety and Security for the National Veterinary Response Team and safety information coordination in the Secretary's Operations Center. Responses include National Special Security Events (NSSE's), natural and man-made disasters here and abroad, as well as warrants and seizures for major crimes against animals.Prior to federal government service, I served as a firefighter/paramedic, terrorism response instructor, FL-USAR technical rescue specialist and as a flight medic specializing in international medical rescue. With more than 3 decades experience in fire, medical and disaster response, a Bachelor of Science, Master of Public Administration (MPA) in Finance and Accredited Board Certified Health & Safety Officer, I have authored and co-authored Response Plans, Health & Safety Plans, Respiratory Protection Programs and Standard Operating Procedures for local and federal government emergency and disaster response programs. I have been invited to speak about Responder Health & Safety, Disaster Response and Special Operations Response for various agencies since 2001.
