My desire is to work together with Indigenous Peoples to realize their economic goals and play their rightful role as key contributors to the economic fabric of Canada. My considerable background in working with Indigenous economic development corporations, supporting Indigeneous groups with contract negotiations, financial reporting, audit, negotiations and financial controls and previous experience dealing with the resource industry as part of KPMG’s Vancouver resource practice makes me well suited to understanding the opportunities and requirements that face Indigenous groups today and in the years ahead.I seek to add value to clients by:1. Economic Development Opportunities: Working with the organization to assess, recommend and structure potential business opportunities to help ensure money is invested in the right projects and yield the best results. 2. Financial Reporting: Providing clarity by analyzing and interpreting financial data and reports and highlighting the key information in “plain English” as understanding the details is a key success factor in achieving business goals3. Negotiations Support: Serving as a key part of the negotiating team by providing financial support and advice and ensuring the financial implications are understood before agreements are signed4. Financial Management and Control: Evaluating financial systems, processes and controls and making recommendations in support of good financial governance5. Trustee Services: Working with advisors on the formation of trusts to ensure that benefits from economic activities are beneficially distributed as well as administering the terms of the trust as trusteeIndigenous groups currently have enormous opportunities to improve the economic lot in life for members of their communities.
