SHOW - SKULLS AND ROSESI worked on Skulls and Roses, a reality show which is supposed to be launched during the upcoming festive season. My responsibility was to edit four ‘reality’ sections of each episode. It was a good challenge as this show is new concept all together so edit wise we tried to do away with the existing reality show formats and set up a fresh format for our show. Our efforts were rewarded after a lot of permutations.

Worked on Mtv Ucypher, a revolutionary reality show which is a competition between professional and semi pro gamers. First of its kind in India.My responsibility was to edit a major part of each episode, a section which involved a competition between the contestants. I took control of the content for my section too and it was an added benefit that i provided to the team.Since it was the first season, we worked as a team and created a structure for the show from scratch. Hopefully that structure will make it easier for the subsequent seasons to be edited.

Each episode of the show was a sneak peak into the lives the sportsmen who are destined to bring us Olympic glory. Working on the edits was all about understanding how to tell someones story via their struggles and ambitions without compromising on the commercial aspect of the show. It was a diffciult balance to maintain but when I look back now I think it was great to understand how to tell a story that fits the purpose of the show while not compromising a bit on the journey of the character.

I worked independently, often working as a line producer/ producer. I worked with brands like Mattle, Saregama and Aditya Birla. I organised shoots, built a team of artists and most often got involved with the post production too. I took each project as my own baby, taking care of it since the start till the end product was final. For this I contacted medium and small level production houses that were keen on resting responsibility on a one man army like me. It was tough, but I never gave up.

A digital media agency, a startup I was part of which shaped the way i look at content and stories. We worked on a digital magazine known as The Music Magazine. Dividing work among the three editor producers in the company we first researched about upcoming independent musicians/bands and then stalked them until we got a shoot and interview scheduled with them. I learnt a lot about managing scarce resources and uncontrollable situations in terms of sound and light. I always shot with the edit in mind. Helped a lot.

This was my experience of working for Mr Sopan Muller. He is a feature film producer who also makes documentaries and corporate films to keep himself busy. Working for the smallest of teams at his company was beneficial for me because of the things i was able to learn working directly with him. I knew how to operate final cut pro, but working with him I understood how to edit. The sessions I had spent trying to understand his directions for the Editor were specially enriching.
