Senior Geotechnical Engineer
CurrentJim Botz has more than 40 years of experience in all aspects of geotechnical engineering in the Midwest. He designs and evaluates dams for flood control and recreation. He also designs and evaluates dams along with performing Phase I and II dam inspections for the Federal Dam Safety Inspection Program. Jim has completed geotechnical exploration and design recommendations. He has experience working with bulkhead walls, including subsurface exploration, engineering evaluation, repair recommendations, design, plan and specification preparation and construction. Jim also has extensive experience working on tailings basins for the mining industry. His responsibilities include investigation and resolution of geotechnical issues related to soils, geologic conditions, settlement analyses, slope stability analyses, retaining wall design, foundation inspections, use of geotextiles and coordination of subcontracted laboratory test programs and interpretation of results.For municipal projects, Jim has performed pavement evaluation and design, and managed and designed solid waste and industrial landfills.
