Co-founded by Marcia Brammer, Jim Brammer and Lisa Sherman, in conjunction with the Board of Governors Chapter, the new Chapter will be known as 25 to 5, reflecting City of Hope’s success in accelerating the traditional “bench to bedside” process for development of new therapies and treatments from 25 years to as few as 5.The goal is to bring together the “30- to 40-something” demographic through an ongoing series of gatherings in the Greater Los Angeles area. While creating a dynamic environment for networking and socializing, these events will heighten awareness of City of Hope’s mission and the ongoing research in cancer, diabetes and HIV/AIDS, with the goal of raising funds to advance early-stage research projects.To initiate 25 to 5, Sherman and the Brammers have formed a small group of 30 founding members, with Jim Brammer as Chair and Lisa Sherman as Vice Chair, to provide thought leadership, help shape the direction of the new Chapter and plan for upcoming events.25 to 5′s inaugural event was held on February 25 at Ocean Prime in Beverly Hills. The Board of Governors is a group of philanthropic members who raise funds to assist City of Hope in its effort to eradicate cancer, diabetes, AIDS and other life threatening diseases. The board, through its Think Tank, also formulates new concepts in the areas of funding and programming which can be used by City of Hope to further its own fundraising efforts. Presently, aside from its major fundraising efforts, the Board of Governors underwrites specific scientists and their leading-edge protocols in immunotherapy.
