This work evaluated the suitability of multiple MODU concepts tasked with drilling an exploration well in the harsh offshore environment of a remote Arctic basin. Key output included the probability of successfully achieving the required number of drilling days, based on MODU type, over a single or multi-season campaign.• Review NE Caspian ice conditions and provide recommendations on design ice loads for mooring piles along a dredged marine channel.• Managed and coordinated a JIP focused on defining the operational environment off NE Greenland.• Provided steering committee oversight on Arctic focused R&D through Newfoundland R&D commitment.
