As the Senior Mine Geologist, I managed the day to day operations of the mine geology department and reported directly to the Mine Manager. I mentored the production Geologists to ensure quality mapping and sampling. I modelled the orebody on a stope by stope basis to minimize dilution and maximize recovery and passed this information along to the mine planners and engineers. I also worked as a bridging connection between the mining and exploration geology departments to further the understanding of the genesis and structural controls of the deposit.I Spearheaded the planning and execution of the definition drilling program (20k+ m/yr for three years) which increased confidence in grade and tonnages, saved the company over $20M by eliminating unnecessary development and added over $125M worth of metal to the mining inventory. 

Mongolia

We provided Western standards of geological and mining related services to the industry. I liased with Clients to determine their specific requirements, then generated possible work plans and budgets to achieve their goals. I partnered with our other co-owner in planning and executing the logistics, administration and practicalities of field work in remote corners of Mongolia. Services I provided included project staffing and management, property evaluation and valuation, NI43-101 and JORC compliance oversight, desk study, summary geological report compilation and advisory for Client companies as well as for the Mongolian Government.

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia

I led 24 office staff, 83 field personnel. I monitored seven drill rigs and over $1.5M worth of stock. I mentored our team in Client generation, price negotiations and conflict resolution. Occupational health and safety was a huge priority.

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia

I developed the Mongolian division of the company from the ground up. I partnered with our CEO to work out a Joint Venture Agreement with a Mongolian company and developed the seven projects simultaneously. I spearheaded all strategic planning and Government liaison in-country. Together with our financial auditors, I marketed and sold the Mongolian assets for over $2.0M. I also conducted an audit of the company’s Colorado mining projects in terms of profitability.

Balmertown, Ontario

I directed the ore production from the upper half of the High-Grade Zone. I ensured that grade control plans were followed and dilution minimised. I conducted near-stope exploration using air drills that resulted in the discovery of additional mineable reserves. I ensured that both grade and geological mapping was up to date. Created ore-outlines for subsequent lifts on stopes. Worked both in over and underhand cut-and-fill as well as captive stopes.

Toronto, Canada Area

I conducted Project Management worldwide including taking part in the feasibility study of the Poura Gold Mine in Burkina Faso. My duties included all aspects of exploration and production geology. I also worked at mines in Ecuador, Chile, Central African Republic, Mexico and Romania. Was directly involved in IPO listings of two companies, and indirectly with several others.

Central African Republic

At the Bamingui River diamond mine I was responsible for the day to day operation of the mine on a rotational basis with three others. Duties included overseeing extraction, surveying, exploration planning and execution, administration, human resources, sorting and shipping of diamonds. It was a great placer mining job.
