I've worked on novels on and off for years. I started the first one that was actually completed in 2017 (Aunt Jenny and the Delayed Quest). I wear several hats at G-Man Comics: Managing Editor, Writer, Graphic Designer and Sous Chef and Bottle Washer. I created the setting and several of the characters in our books, write some of the scripts, lead the editing team, design and dress the covers and act as production editor.

Since leaving the world of big corporations, I've been a freelance engineer, team leader, designer, architect, project leader, acting CTO, actual VP, expert witness, and represented my clients in large scale military and homeland security exercises. Anything that requires broad systems-level understanding.My most recent project has been research in the field of Machine Ethics, both in the areas of Artificial Intelligence, and less-than-intelligent "personified systems".

I lead two small teams, one in the US and one in Ukraine doing advanced development work on secure communications desktop and enterprise platforms. We also refined agile development and test methodologies that allowed for both fast prototyping and short cycle update and release cycles.

I was the VP of Engineering at Silent Circle, directing a distributed team of software developers, QA and release engineers worldwide (10 US states, Germany, Greece, Ukraine and Latvia) in developing Silent Phone and Silent Text for iOS and Android, and the backend services that connected them. I also built the Release Engineering, Software Quality Assurance and Project Management teams and led them until suitable managers could be found.

I started my tenure at Silent Circle working on special projects for the CTO. These varied from creating a full function feasibility demo version of Silent Text in Javascript, to building release engineering and QA teams, to running Technical Operations until a full-time TechOps manager could be hired—whatever was needed to get the product built and launched.

I was the architect and team leader of multiple open and secure communications projects, as well as shepherding the company's flagship product through the 2010 Coalition Warrior Interoperability Demo (CWID), handling all the advanced coordination and paperwork, and providing on-site support at SPAWAR and USNORTHCOM.

My responsibility was to build smartphone projects, whatever it takes. Build the team, design the architecture, manage or just get out of the way.

After about 5 years of managing TechOps, I decided it was time to get back to the fun technical stuff and stick someone else with the dirty work.

Over the 20.5 years I spent at DEC, my job title ranged from associate software engineer to principal software engineer. I did pure research, applied research, advanced development, development, software architecture, operations and internal consulting. I worked in the Software Human Engineering (SHE aka HER aka SUE), Small Systems, Pathworks (Apple/DEC alliance), RSTS, and Terminals Engineering groups, among others.
