About Jim Caffey

I am a highly experienced and ground breaking Adjunct Professor in the fields of Astronomy, Geology, Meteorology, Physical Sciences and Teacher Education. Most of my teaching is in Astronomy, but I have also taught many sections of Meteorology, Geology, Physics, Physical Science (Conceptual Physics and Chemistry), Earth and Space Science, Ecology, Planetary Science, Space Flight, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, and Special Education.I have taught at the College and University level since 1998, with 6 years prior to that as a Lab, Lecture, and Research Associate. I spent 20 years on NASA projects in Observational Astronomy Research and Space Flight Public Outreach. 2020 will mark my 30th year in Higher Education overall, working early on as a Teaching and Research Associate.My research interests are in Eclipsing Binary Stars, Comets, Planetary Science, Online Pedagogy and Androgyny, Tornado and Hurricane Development,Climate Change, and use of Video in Online Classrooms.From 1990-1997, I served as a paid NASA-Missouri Space Grant Intern, and from 2008-2009 as a NASA Graduate Fellow in Astronomy at Missouri State University in Springfield.In 2001 I served as a NASA Mars Odyssey Mission Educator, and from 2002-2012 as a NASA Solar System Ambassador, a volunteer position, headquartered at NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab in Pasadena, California.I was the first in the area in 2001 to use video extensively in online classes, creating video lectures, discussions, and replacing some expensive textbooks with cheaper DVD lectures On Demand.Currently, all of my teaching is done Online.I am also available to do Instructional Design work, SME work, Publishers & DissertationsI have been employed by over 20 colleges and universities.To inquire what schools I am currently teaching at, or to request my CV and Transcripts, for purposes of potential employment, please email me at ProfessorJimCaffey@gmail.comI am always available to new schools to teach for!
