Svp, Global Head Of Business DevelopmentThomson Reuters Mar 2006 - Apr 2007Toronto, On, CaIn 2007 Reuters started a Search & Content Technologies Business Group. I took on the role of business development which included managing relationships with leading technology companies, developing relationships with emerging companies in the content vertical, executing content sharing or distribution deals and working on acquisitions. I secured long term strategic commercial agreements with Vhayu Technologies and FAST and then built out true business partnerships with them. Most of the time in this role centered on Reuters successful acquisition of ClearForest, a text analytics and text mining company with software development located in Israel. My role included technical and business due diligence pre-acquisition, negotiating technology agreements during the acquisition and integration of the staff and technology post-acquisition. -
Vp, Strategic Technology RelationshipsThomson Reuters Jan 2004 - Mar 2006Toronto, On, CaI took charge of a small team dedicated to developing the company's technology relationships. Primary drivers were to secure joint marketing support and direct technical support of our technology teams. Major success included securing over $10M in joint marketing funding from technology partners. My team drove technology partner support of the company's new development locations in Thailand, China and India. We hosted an annual Technology Partner Summit in Bangkok. We also managed company EBC visits to West Coast technology company HQ locations. My team enlisted the support of our technology partners to put on the company's first internal software development and technology conference for 500+ staffI led the company's joint recovery efforts with our technology partners in the wake of the destruction of Hurricane Katrina. -
Director, Software Development Project ManagementThomson Reuters Dec 2003 - Jan 2004Toronto, On, CaIn this role I led two major projects with direct customer interaction and impact. The first was project managing the software development and delivery of Reuters Messaging, Reuters product alternative to Bloomberg Mail. I led a year long successful interaction with the Beta client, Deutsche Bank. The product was delivered on-budget and ahead of schedule. The second project was a major over hall of the Reuters Instrument Code (RIC) infrastructure, data structures and content. I was the bridge between Reuters top 16 financial vertical clients and the internal technology and product teams. The project greatly enhanced our ability to deliver the information our customers required to be competitive in the financial vertical. -
Director, Software Development OperationsThomson Reuters Sep 2002 - Dec 2003Toronto, On, CaI ran operations for a 800+person, 5 building, software development campus in Hauppauge, NY. This included the coordination of facilities, security, data center operations, human resources, finance, communications, vendor management and software development labs. I was also responsible for local university recruiting, our summer internship program and our community relations outreach program. During this time I was responsible for managing the transfer of 3 major product software development efforts from New York to Bangkok (these products were leading revenue producers for the company). This included all training of Bangkok staff, transferring physical IT and IP assets to Thailand and developing a transition plan that would not be noticed by our customers. The program was under budget, met all timelines and had zero impact on customer service. -
Director, Strategic Technology RelationshipsThomson Reuters Jun 2001 - Sep 2002Toronto, On, CaI was a founding technology relationship manager of the company's new Strategic Technology Relationship Program. My role was to build strong technology and business relationships with Intel and Compaq (later HP). My work with Compaq included partnering to engineer new releases of Reuters real-time information and trading systems that could keep pace with increasing market data rates. With Intel I developed Reuters first joint marketing partnership with a technology company. The campaign focused on combining the power of Reuters real-time systems fueled by Intel's new chip development to deliver the fastest systems to the financial vertical. I developed and led the joint effort between Reuters, Intel, HP and Red Hat that transformed the financial services industry. We worked together to port the Reuters Market Data System to Linux which aided in breaking Sun Microsystem's near operating system monopoly in the vertical. The port to Linux allowed the banks and trading houses to open up their hardware business for bidding from the likes of HP, IBM and Dell, thereby forever reducing infrastructure costs. -
Technology Project ManagerThomson Reuters Jul 1998 - Jun 2001Toronto, On, CaIn this role I began a 17.5 year employment with the world's largest provided of news, financial systems and professional information products in the world. We released several innovative financial products to include Dealing 3000 during this time. In this role I helped managed the Y2K compliance efforts of our New York software development teams and ran the Y2K New Years Eve Operations Team for all US based client based applications. Our efforts were very successful with no product or service failures reported. Due to my military and relationship background I was assigned to manage efforts to recover a major company data center that had flooded. I organized 24 hour clean-up operations, enlisted the support of vendors and returned the data center to full operations in half the estimated time. -

Operations ManagerMacy'S Aug 1995 - Sep 1996New York, Ny, UsMacy's is one of the leading high end retailers and I thoroughly enjoyed the fast paced and demanding work environment during my time with them. My first assignment was as an operations manager in the flagship Herald Square store. I managed all operations for the 7-9th floors which included china, glassware, flatware, toys, luggage, women's wear, furniture, pianos, rugs and best of all Santaland, the annual Christmas holiday experience. I really enjoyed working with international diplomatic customers and helped outfit several consulates in NYC with full china collections. This helped my continued development of relationship skills, especially with very demanding customers. I also helped develop out outsourcing vendor relationships to true strategic partnerships. From Herald Square I moved to managing the full operations of the Macy's location in Nanuet, NY. This store has 227,000 sq ft of floor space with $40M+ in annual revenue. I am most proud of creating a strong support staff at the store that was able to cut truck to floor merchandising time by over 50%. This is where a built a strong foundation in vendor management having to manage over 25 vendors providing support to store operations. -
Us Army Military Intelligence OfficerUs Army, 10Th Mountain Division Aug 1991 - Aug 1995Arlington, Virginia, UsMy time in the US Army provided me strong leadership and management skills that have benefited me in all the positions I have had since. My organizational and staff development skills were developed over four years of challenging military job assignments in the intelligence field. I selected to serve my Army time with the 10th Mountain Division as I wanted to provide intelligence support to an infantry combat unit. My jobs included both unit leadership and staff position roles. I experienced two of my most life rewarding work experiences during my time in the US Army and developed my strong skills of relationship and partnership management.. The first was being able to help the residents of Homestead, FL recover from the devastation of Hurricane Andrew. For 4 months I helped run logistics and personnel to restore basic services, shelter and food/water to the residents of the town. I was in charge of coordinating military efforts with NGOs to include the American Red Cross, AmeriCares and the Salvation Army. The second experience was the time I spent in Somalia. Our unit worked in Somalia during Operation Restore Hope to guarantee food delivery to the thousands of starving Somalis throughout the country. My relationship skills, developed during Hurricane Andrew relief, were once again called on and I coordinated military efforts with the International Red Cross, Irish Concern, CARE and Doctors Without Borders. I was also the relationship manager for US force interaction with United Nations forces to include Australia, Denmark, France and Pakistan. My fellow soldiers joked that my office was a mini-United Nations.
