Ctv Program Director
CurrentA consultant to St Johns Ship Building for their Offshore Wind sector for CTVs and other related vessel types in both aluminum and steel. Acting as a liaison with current and potential clients and vessel operators as well as class societies, USCG and the UK based naval architects.Have been heavily involved in the design for the current CTVs under construction as well as developing relationships and new business with a wide range of people and organizations, including naval architects, vessel owners and operators, vendors and classification societies etc.
Engineering Manager
Initially reporting to the Director of Engineering I was quickly invited to join the company’s senior Management Team and was given dedicated responsibilities, reporting directly to the General Manager. I had the responsibility of managing the engineering office as well as supporting the manufacture of the current production vessel, the Ocean Alexander 70e.I introduced a drawing and document numbering system with a release control procedure and started a program of updating all engineering drawings to ensure the production line was up to date with all documentation. I combined this with a number of feedback systems (Engineering Assistance Request, Engineering Change Notice and BOM Change Record) to capture and document all engineering changes and to ensure the build Bill of Materials was accurate. Worked with the newly formed Process Engineering department to capture the build on MS Project and supported the Warranty Team for refit and repair documentation.
Director Of Engineering
CTruk Boats Limited design and manufacture a range of vacuum infused GRP/FRP composite vessels for the offshore wind farm industry as well as military and other markets.I had a broad mandate within the organization and am involved in all aspects of the company business, reporting directly to the company owner and CEO. I managed the in-house engineering team as well as outside designers and specialist sub-contractors on new vessel concept and engineering issues as well as ongoing product development. I liaised directly with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) and classification societies including DNV and BV to ensure our craft met required rules and regulations. I worked closely with the production manager on construction issues and build schedules and was instrumental in improving production methods and quality. My initial challenge was to take the company through vessel update and redesign and manage the build to meet classification requirements. From this initial success, all CTruk craft are now either full class or have vessel structure class approved. Since starting with the company I have also introduced a drawing and document numbering and control system and other in-house control and procedural systems. I also write/edit the technical and maintenance documents produced in-house.I work closely with the customer support and after-sales service department and have introduced a system to record, track, cost and schedule vessel in-build extras and after-sales work.As part of the senior management team I work closely with the other executives on business development and growth and I am also tasked with sourcing and managing local, national and international funding streams for product and systems development.
Vice President For Engineering
EPS Navy Systems division worked on contracts and requirements for the marine/maritime industry. The company designed and manufactured vacuum infused GRP/FRP composite workboats and other vessels, including the EPS M10 hovercraft.Reporting directly to the company owner and CEO, I managed a number of external design teams on product development and various vessel design but was also the project manager for all vessels under construction at our Florida based shipyard. I had ongoing control and direction of other managers within the organization with regard to all marine/maritime issues and was responsible for marketing, sales, strategic planning and business development for the Navy Systems Division, liaising with other senior company executives on these matters.I wrote the tender submission that won a multimillion dollar contract for two Lloyds Register, fully classed EPS M10 hovercraft for the Border Guard of Saudi Arabia. I managed this contract from tender release, contract negotiation and award, vessel construction, class approval and certification and delivery right through to contract completion.

Reporting directly to the company owner I started with ABS as mechanical designer on the original prototype 20m (65') hovercraft. Manufactured from vacuum infused FRP composites and designed to carry 10 tonnes of payload at 40 knots, this successful demonstrator led to the development of other military and commercial vessels.I was project manager on a number of vessel builds, all delivered on time and on budget. I worked closely with the production department of our manufacturing sub-contractor and was instrumental in setting up the SCRIMP vacuum infusion process for our products.Promoted to the sales team I traveled widely for the company and was instrumental in its continued success, winning orders for various international organizations. For the final 4 years of my time with ABS I had the role of General Manager with responsibility for all aspects of design, marketing, sales and production.
