Guild of Writers and Performing Artists, GWAPA is a literary club based in Maiduguri, Borno. GWAPA is a platform for creative writing, music, drama, and all forms of art.It is based upon using the creative skills it takes to be an artist.Club members meet to discuss books and the craft of writing. Some members choose to share their writings during the meetings, therefore starting many discussions. At times we critique each other's work and offer suggestions.The Literary club is more than just a club for reading and writing; it is also a place where members can come to share their insights on politics, life, and other issues. As a co editor, I do the following:Compile anthology of poems and short stories when the club is open for submission.I format and edit the anthology.I design the book cover, as the graphic designer and put it forward for the board to discuss.

Taboo Empower wishes to highlight and celebrate today’s modern-day griots (young artists and storytellers), in view of creating one of the most impactful communities and a social movement for African, Caribbean and Afro and Caribbean diasporans, including Black people. Taboo Empower not only aims to unify the community and the diaspora but also highlights the importance of tackling socio-economic and political issues through powerful and unifying voices, creating a social movement.
