Manage an active outreach program for schools locally, nationally, and internationally, with the purpose of introducing the National Steinbeck Center and Salinas CA as the institution and city that represents John Steinbeck’s life and work, through partnerships, events, and educational programs. In the past two years we have signed an International Agreement with two highly recognized educational institutions in Mexico; the ITESM Los Cabos, BCS. and SABES Guanajuato.Lead presentations and workshops with teachers regarding best practices and strategy development to enhance students reading and writing skills through the Steinbeck Young Authors Program.Introduce parents and community members to John Steinbeck's works through workshops where we discuss cultural wealth and self-identification. Personally, I've made these presentations both in Spanish and English, which has helped the community understand and bond with the author. I’ve had the experience of working with Native Salinas community members, as well as with people from a diverse ethnic background.Work closely with local artists and community experts by developing projects and partnerships which impact the youth of the community.Support educational program development, as part of the NSC Education Team we work together to create new programs, strategies, and content.Create an ongoing network of teachers, educators, and scholars around John Steinbeck and his works.
