Creating innovative learning architectures for students is my passion. I am driven by simply solving the student learning problems. A learning architecture is like a big bucket of water. Water has this amazing ability to wrap itself around any object that is placed in it. A student learning architecture needs to do something similar. The learning architecture, schooling, needs to be able to take its shape in relationship to the needs of the learner. My greatest strength is thinking. If thinking was easy, a lot of people would do it. I think in terms of educational triangles and most of the education world is built with squares and rectangles. My greatest accomplishments are:In 1993 I founded and launched American Military University working from my basement on a picnic table. In 2002, I reorganized AMU into the American Public University System (APUS) and American Public University (APU) was founded. Today, APUS is one of the largest providers of online higher education—offering over 200 academic programs and serving over 90 thousand students.In mid-2017, I acquired Citizens High School, a struggling correspondence school. Today CHS’s global online campus, provide an innovative “omnidirectional” learning architecture that is both regionally and nationally accredited and services 16 school from 5 continents with students throughout the US and 35 nations.On April 11, 2022, CHS launched the Ukrainian Refugee Online Academy in partnership with the Ukrainian Ministry of Education and Science. The Ukraine Academy serves as a “bridge program” for Ukrainian Refugee High School student until they settle in a new country of choice, or they return to their Ukraine high school.
