Served in a short term transition role to complete the merger of Wonder & Wisdom and The Art House to form WonderArts Vermont. Responsibilities include 990 prep work for both organizations, financial management, accounting, systems planning, documentation of standard operating procedures, and training a new hire to fill the business manager role on a permanent basis.

CEO for Wonder & Wisdom, a community-based nonprofit providing high quality after-school programming and summer day camps for children, cultural enrichment activities for seniors, and service-learning opportunities in the Greensboro/Craftsbury/Hardwick area of northern Vermont. Supervised program and support staff; developed annual budget; managed grants, fundraising, facilities, finances and accounting, website and social media, and community events. Oversaw the 2016-acquisition and development of a two-acre community greenspace pocket park in Craftsbury Village. Guided Wonder & Wisdom through a successful 2017-merger with The Art House to form WonderArts Vermont.

• Secured and administered a $120K federal grant to provide 40 school community gardens in Vermont with technical assistance and $40,000 in mini-grant funding to support local food production. • Designed and marketed the school community mini-grant program; conducted planning and proposal writing workshops at four locations statewide, with 100 local organizers participating.• Developed an efficient web-based system for managing and evaluating mini-grant applications, progress reports, and final reports.• In a collaborative effort, the project achieved 100% project completion by statewide mini-grant recipients, with 40 projects, site visits, and final reports submitted.

• Founded and guided Friends of Burlington Gardens from a grassroots start-up with $25,000 in annual revenues to an established local and state-wide nonprofit with a $225,000 annual budget.• Supervised a five-member staff, recruited and trained volunteers, coordinated annual spring plant sales, and organized local food harvest events.• Developed the 22-week, 40-session Community Teaching Garden and New Discovery Garden programs for adult learners; served as course instructor (2003-2011).• Conducted 10 Annual Fund Campaigns (2002-2011) and multiple fundraising efforts yielding 650 donors and $159K in contributions.• Administered $90,000 in mini-grant awards, over a six year period, to establish the Vermont Community Garden Network, a statewide coalition of 200 community, school, and neighborhood gardens.• Successfully worked with the board and incoming ED to transition the organization from founder to new executive director, while ensuring stability of program funding and continued growth in mission.

• Administered two nationwide garden grant programs with a total of 900 annual awards; traveled extensively within the U.S. to provide technical assistance for school and youth gardens, conduct workshops, and present at community and school gardening conferences.• Developed and marketed an innovative new product line of equipment to support the National Science Foundation funded GrowLab Indoor Garden Program. • Managed the NGA direct mail program and client database as it grew from 20K to 100K over an 8-year period, resulting in an increase in annual catalog sales from $250K to $1M.

• Served as faculty coordinator for the CREATE (Corporate Education and Training Enhancement) program held round the clock at IBM’s manufacturing plant in Essex Junction. • Taught 10 semesters of college prep math and science with up to 30 adults per class, integrated curricula to IBM specifications, and coordinated a staff of 25 adjunct instructors.• Designed desktop published brochures and print advertising for the SMC Continuing Education Department and Graduate School.
