As a member of an agile Scrum team, I help implement new features and trouble-shoot defects in the Member Portal, an enterprise, public-facing ASP.NET MVC web site written in C# and AngularJS. Additional technologies include: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, MDX queries, and FusionCharts. Users enter data into the Member Portal SSAS cubes database using an Excel Add-in, a WCF web service, stored procedures, and SQL Server Agent jobs.My greatest accomplishment so far in this role is that I can switch from working on a task in a legacy application to a task in a greenfield application without a loss in productivity.

I had two consecutive assignments at Saint Francis. In my first assignment I quickly converted the database queries in a small classic ASP application from SQL Server SQL to Oracle SQL. The new database was an Epic Clarity database.In my second assignment, I wrote the code for Flu Tracker, a new Windows 8.1 Store App written in JavaScript that tracks the 2014-15 flu shot status of St. Francis employees and vendors. This was my first experience working as a front-end developer. In order to meet the implementation deadline, I spent many week-ends over the summer getting ramped up on advanced JavaScript techniques as well as learning several APIs in the WinJS library. It was an exhilarating experience.

I had three different jobs at Aetna. In my first job, I worked on the Corporate Finance development team. Here I worked on integrating data stored in third party software (Planview, Concur) with selections from Aetna's finance and human resource data. My primary tasks were to design, create, maintain, and trouble-shoot batch jobs written in .NET, TSQL and PL/SQL. However, I also spent significant time helping co-workers improve the SQL Server and Oracle query performance in their reports. My inter-departmental collaboration skills improved a lot during my tenure in this job. My manager told me that my positive attitude and willingness to share my knowledge with others helped the business team obtain their objectives.In addition to my IT responsibilities, I served as a volunteer member of the Employee Survey Action Team which provided a conduit between employees and upper management about the results of the annual employee survey.In my second job I worked not in IT but in a business group. I created .NET and MS Excel applications that directly supported both the Individual and Small Group market actuaries. This experience gave me the opportunity to learn how health insurance plans are rated. My biggest accomplishment during this time was to successfully migrate the ETL processes of a complex VBA application of 8MM rows from MS Access to SQL Server. Key to success was mimicking MS Access’s cursors as TSQL cursors in order to maintain the accuracy of the results of the final output.In my third job I was back in IT working on the company's intranet portal that provides services to Aetna employees. To this very large (over 600 active pages) web site I added functionality to many classic ASP and ASP.NET pages and many back-end batch jobs using JavaScript, AJAX, VBScript, VB.NET, and SQL Server stored procedures. In this role, my manager complimented me on my ability to adapt quickly to taking on new assignments and promote process improvements and best practices.
