Currently I am creating order-specific (operator and maintenance) manuals for Alfa Laval’s PureSOx Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems (EGCS). This product, including the documentation, complies with IMO SOx regulations, as stipulated by the maritime industry.

Together with a small project team, I migrated a comprehensive set of user manuals into SCHEMA ST4 - an XML-based Component Content Management System (CCMS). The aim of this project was to improve the quality of the documentation and create single-source publishing for 100-plus variant manuals.

I wrote operator instructions and system descriptions for material handling systems used in airports and warehouses, working in strict accordance with the Publication Guidelines.

I created a CE-compliant user manual for a newly-developed Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) instrument. The manual (including the template) was developed from scratch within a tight timeframe to satisfy CE requirements.

I designed and created an Installation Checklist, using CRI methodology. I also researched and updated maintenance procedures. Software tools included Adobe FrameMaker and MS Office.

A new look and feel was created for the in-house documentation – I set up publication standards, and created operator and maintenance instructions. The documentation was used to transfer production knowledge from the Netherlands to a new plant in Poland.

Applied Technology Group, Deutsche Bank, Frankfurt, and LondonElectronic Financial Services, Deutsche Bank, FrankfurtFor various divisions of Deutsche Bank, I rewrote and edited a number of corporate and technical documents including: ● the strategy paper for the OneStop Search Portal (I was also responsible for updating the accompanying User and Webmaster Guides).● a Request for Proposal (RFP) for an international procurement process.● the supporting documentation for Deutsche Bank’s electronic MarketPlace project (eMP). A new look and feel was created for this documentation, including designing a consistent style for all illustrations. The documentation was edited using plain English techniques.

As department editor, I was responsible for the quality of documents published on Deutsche Bank’s intranet. Additionally, I was a member of the Methods and Procedures Publications Team, which was responsible for Publication Standards, Terminology Management, and the developing and pilot-testing of publication processes. I also wrote the User Guide for the intranet search engine, “db-search”.

My main areas of responsibility included creating new technical procedures for the PAS 5500/500 Step & Scan system, and editing technical documents, such as conference papers. I also wrote articles for ASML’s technical newsletter.

Initially I was employed as a service engineer. I later transferred to the Documentation & Training department, where I wrote and edited operator and maintenance manuals. I also developed and gave technical training courses for non-native English speakers, often working abroad for customers such as Samsung Korea, and IBM Hong Kong. After completing an internal training program for technical authorship, I joined the AMTOSS Project Team. This team was responsible for creating a new service manual and technical bulletins–in Simplified English–for the Fokker 100 aircraft.
