From magazines to New York Times bestsellers, I’ve edited and written on topics ranging from open-heart surgery to clothing-optional resorts. In 2014 and 2015, two of my books earned national awards, while one became a bestseller. With 2016 came another bestseller and two more awards. In 2017, there was another bestseller. And in 2019, another award for a book that was published in 2020. (See WordEquity.com for details.) Not surprisingly, writing has always been part of my life. I was that elementary school kid whose essay won the big writing contest, that high school kid who took speed reading class so I could devour more books, that college kid who got published when a literature professor sent my treatise to Random House. Then, fresh out of school, I began a rewarding 17-year career in marketing communications for Atlas World Group. As part of my job, I published and wrote for magazines and websites - for which I interviewed interesting people such as Katie Couric, Henry Kissinger, Larry King, Madeleine Albright, George Will, President Gerald Ford, Sam Donaldson, General Norman Schwarzkopf, and Coach Lou Holtz. Several of my publications and articles earned national awards from organizations such as the Public Relations Society of America, the American Advertising Federation, and the International Association of Business Communicators. One of those awards led to me being interviewed for what became a New York Times bestseller, “Hyperwars: 11 Strategies for Survival and Profit in the Era of Online Business.” While working with the author, Bruce Judson, I considered writing full-time but instead took my career to its next level - consulting. For the next few years, I consulted for Siemens and then for Sotheby’s. Soon, I realized how I always gravitated toward my work areas that involved researching, interviewing, writing, and editing. From there, it wasn’t long before I transitioned to a full-time writer and editor’s sorrows and joys.
