I am a hardware and software product and business builder at heart. At the beginning of my professional career I had the joy of seeing my products underwater (SCUBA video camera housings), in retail stores (software differentiated high intensity bike lights), and running through high volume manufacturing lines (high speed fiber optic components). While I love the creative discipline required to bring new products from ideas to launch as an engineer, I learned early on that I can have a greater impact on my products, and on the world, by taking a more holistic, cross-functional and customer-back approach to developing products and managing them through their lifecycle, so I entered the world of product and business management.At Agilent Technologies, I moved from designing circuits and mechanisms, to managing those who did, and soon found myself gravitating to Product Management which allowed me to expand the scope of the challenge by bringing together inputs from the customers, manufacturing, R&D, procurement, product quality, and supply chain. At McKinsey & Co., I was a leader in our global Product Development and Product Management practice and built the Firm's practice assets and capabilities. I also helped clients improve their products and performance across a broad range of industries, from consumer electronics to heavy equipment, and biotech to food.At FTC Solar, I have had the opportunity to own the end-to-end product portfolio from strategy and roadmap to execution; to build a global team of Product Managers; to establish the product development process; and to help transition a company from Private to Publicly Traded, all in support of the world's transition to renewable energy and the goal of Net Zero emissions.
