At Canberra’s largest independent advertising agency, I was responsible for the strategic direction of major communication and advertising campaigns for their large cohort of blue-chip clients and also responsible for the creative direction of a wide range of campaigns. Duties also included development of communication and marketing strategies/plans, writing of TV, press, online and radio ads, brochures, magazines, annual reports, and other collateral, and conducting strategic and creative workshops.

As part of an army of more than 2,000 volunteers, I provided strategic advice and planning for all promotional activities including advertising, marketing, and PR with a focus on organic and paid social media.

At this boutique digital consultancy, I was responsible for development of online strategies with specific focus on social media crisis management. Clients included some of Australia’s largest corporations, major entertainment brands, and not-for profits. Duties included development of strategic responses, tone-of-voice, advice to senior management, and hands-on social media management.

On a 12-month contract, I was involved in the merging of the Department’s online sections with Centrelink, Medicare, and Child Support Agency. My primary responsibilities were heading up the stakeholder engagement section and acting as strategic advisor to the National Manager. At one of Australia’s leading web and multimedia firms, I was responsible for the strategic, creative and technical direction of large online and multimedia projects for blue-chip clients in Australia and internationally. The firm was also the in-house digital provider for national advertising company, Grey Worldwide, and I was their Head of Digital. Duties included development of strategies, tender responses/pitches, information architecture, technical specifications, and design briefs.

For many, the websites were their first. As one of Australia’s pioneering multimedia firms, Brigalow developed the first multimedia CD ROM in Australia, the first government multimedia product, and the first Australian Multimedia encyclopedia. I was responsible of the overall management and direction of projects and was also lead Lingo programmer. I also was a key member of the team that produced a number of reports for government on the emerging industry.

The Aboriginal Native Title Negotiating Team, led by Noel Pearson, was the key player in the passing of the Native Title Act in 1993. I worked closely with the team and their lead strategist in the public persuasion activities. Duties included media management and monitoring, fund raising, stakeholder engagement, and content creation and distribution.

Starting off as Assistant Film Editor / Archivist at the Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies, I worked across Australia as an editor and director on broadcast news, entertainment programs, advertising, feature films, and documentaries. I also was accepted into the prestigious Australian Film, Television and Radio School where I studied editing with a focus on public persuasion.

My first career was in lighting design for rock bands. Across my career, I toured with a wide range of bands including Split Enz, Cold Chisel, INXS, Goanna, Mental as Anything, KISS, Fleetwood Mac, and The Romantics.
