Profile bio

About Jim Inman

An innovative mechanical design engineer with a proven record to take an initial idea and transform it into a complete mechanical design that is practical, simplistic and efficient. I flourish in environments that promote innovation and pursuing new concepts. My emphasis on maintenance and safety has consistently led to successful mechanical designs in rigorous time and cost constraints. For many, starting with a blank sheet of paper can be an obstacle. Getting the initial idea on paper is an intuitive skill that I have mastered. My extensive 3-D CAD and graphic skills has allowed me to take an idea and forge it into a formal design in order to professionally communicate the critical design objectives to engineers, management, manufacturing and clients. As a Senior Principal Engineer I have over 30 years working on advanced nuclear projects. I have an established history leading projects, working independently and well as contributing in group settings. The current project that I am involved in is producing the mechanical design of the modular 530 MWt mPower nuclear reactor. Being one of the three project originators, I have brought continuous innovation to the design of the reactor pressure vessel, internals, external interfaces, refueling system and plant layout elevating it to a $400 million(+) project. In addition to my mechanical design skills, I professionally build scale models that allow non-technical individuals to easily see and understand critical aspects of a product. I have produced models showing the product in its functional environment and also shown the design with section cuts in order to see all the major components within. Both types allow the model itself to explain its function to clients, management and marketing.

Listed skills include Mechanical Engineering, Engineering, Nuclear, Solidworks, and 20 others.
