August 2023 - March 2024 - Interim Accounting Staff - A regional medical provider with several clinics, hospitals, and health centers in Pennsylvania and New York required an interim staff accountant/analyst for a short-term (7 months) assignment working entirely remotely. Working with Oracle ERP and Epic EMR.January 2023 - July 2023- Interim Assistant Controller - Private college in Finger Lakes area. I was asked to fill a transitional role in College's finance department while they searched for a permanent replacement. That role has been filled and I will stay on to help with the transition through July 2023.February - September 2022 - . Interim Hospital Controller.An upstate New York Hospital/Health Center had an immediate need for an Interim Controller while they conducted a search for a permanent replacement. The hospital had recently converted their financial accounting systems to WorkDay and their electronic medical records systems to EPIC.June - December 2021 - Interim Vice President of Finance. A Syracuse based software provider with $60MM in annual revenues needed someone to step in quickly and assist them through a staff transition period. In addition to maintaining the Finance Department throughout the process, I recruited and they hired, a permanent head of Finance and two Finance staff positions.April - June 2021 - I was asked to assist the staff in providing a 2022 Budget for a NYC based Women's Health Care Clinic as they transition a new senior management group. Approximately an $80MM Budget due July 1.January - April 2021- A Syracuse based software provider needed assistance in catching up on several years of Sales Tax filings in accordance with agreements reached with numerous states. My role was to compile historical sales data and prepare detailed sales tax filings by state and county. In addition I was tasked to reconcile 5 years of deferred revenue maintenance contracts - approximately 6,000 individual contracts.

Originally a short term contract assignment for ProNexus, I was asked stay on to be the CFO of Upstate NY's largest Girl Scout Council covering 26 counties from the US/Canadian border down in to Northern Pennsylvania. 80 employees, 1,200 Troops, over 16,000 Girl Scouts, four resident camps and an annual Budget in excess of $10 million. Responsible for all aspects of financial operations and reporting as well as Information Technology, Risk Management and Property Management.

Westen Finger Lakes

A ProNexus client, ARC of Yates County/NYSARC Inc., needed someone to step in as Interim Chief Financial Officer while they conducted a search for a permanent replacement in the Rochester NY area. The Arc of Yates is a non-profit service organization providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities throughout Yates County and the western Finger Lakes area. The Arc of Yates operates with 200+ employees and an annual operating budget in excess of $10 million.

KIK (formerly Marietta’s Cortland NY facilities) needed an Interim Plant controller to who could be effective immediately while they conducted a search for a permanent replacement. KIK’s Cortland facility is a consumer products manufacturer producing 500 million units annually and employs 600+ in Cortland NY. They use JD Edwards ERP system and E1 and Showcase for financial reporting.

Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida Area And New York City

A ProNexus client operating 34 nationwide fitness centers planned to close its Florida headquarters and move the offices to NYC. I and another ProNexus employee documented all of the financial accounting and payroll activities prior to the closing. We then went to NYC and trained the new staff on all of the processes and procedures as well as performing them initially ourselves. The client uses NetSuite cloud based GL. Annual Revenues of $65MM...and growing.

Marietta is a $280 million manufacturer/supplier to the hospitality industry as well as a leading contract manufacturer of consumer products. Marietta has 1,500 employees at five manufacturing facilities in the US. (Marietta was purchased by KIK Custom Products on January 30, 2015. The Corporate offices closed on June 1, 2015.) I was a member of the senior leadership team and I was responsible for the Company’s cash management & cash forecasting activities, treasury operations, bank relations, and the Accounts’ Receivable and Accounts’ Payable , Credit, Product Pricing, and Payroll Departments, as well as all Property/Casualty and Workmen’s Compensation insurance plans for five US manufacturing facilities and the Company’s International operations. I was a Managing Director of Marietta International GmbH and a Member of the Benefit Plan Committee. I had five direct reports. CASH/WORKING CAPITAL  Reduced overdue Receivables from $7.5 million to $1.5 million in twelve months; currently $0.5 million, 2% of AR. Reduced DSO from 54 to 29 days, freeing up $6 million in working capital. Negotiated extended terms with key suppliers. DPO 51 days. Working capital up $5 million. Implemented real time detail cash flow reporting and forecasting to provide executives and the board with critical forward looking cash requirements and opportunities.

COST CONTROL Centralized A/R and A/P departments for improved control and cost savings from four locations to one and from fifteen individuals to five – saving $445,000 annually. AP Department’s lean initiatives completely eliminated paper invoice handling and storage with an image scanning and barcode retrieval system for less than $30,000 and further reduced headcount in the department. The system currently handles 1200 invoices per week. Upgraded the Companies banking services and reduced bank fees by $24,000 and improved on-line capabilities. $1.9 million in daily transactions.  Worked with the State of NY and the City of Cortland to receive $575,000 in employment grants and $400,000 in sub-prime infrastructure loans.SAFETY/RISK MANAGEMENT Lowered worker’s comp costs by $600,000 annually working with operations to drive a stronger safety-first culture and by delivering those results to competing compensation carriers. Lowered NCCI experience rating from a punitive 1.32 to a discounted position of 0.87 over three years. Directed the recovery efforts of $1.7 million in Property Insurance Claims including the oversight of the restoration work.

Through Advanced Financial Solutions I was the Acting Controller of an $8MM, 60 employee subsidiary of an AFS client located in Los Angeles. This client owns/ operates HVAC companies throughout the US.

Crucible was a $300 million specialty steel manufacturer with three manufacturing facilities, a complete R&D center, and 12 Service Centers in the US and the UK.Managed the company’s revolving credit facilities and cash management systems as well as property/casualty programs.Achieved critical goals of increased liquidity and reduced cost of capital by negotiating two $80 million, sub-prime revolving lines of credit syndicated across 6 national banks within 24 months. The last during a period in which the company’s net worth declined by more than 50%.Served as key leader in successfully managing credit, liquidity and covenant compliance through a period that saw over 40 steel companies file for bankruptcy.

Consolidated monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements, forecasts and budgets of five domestic operating entities and two foreign subsidiaries. Responsible for production of all financial reporting.Oversaw general accounting functions, including AR/AP, account reconciliation, and cash management.Strategically restructured and automated manual financial reporting and consolidation processes in accordance with organizational changes - increasing efficiency and decreasing turnaround time to corporate offices.Prepared and filed annual 5500 reports for 15 defined benefit, defined contribution, and health insurance plans. Moved entire reporting process from a manual system to an automated system. Plan assets in excess of $200 million.

Created the company’s Internal Audit Department. Traveled extensively (80%) to review financial and operational performance of 16 company locations. Documented and evaluated internal control systems at all locations similar to Sarbanes-Oxley §302 & §404 requirements today.
