Performed manufacturing engineering function for low temperature (-80 degree) automated biological storage systems. Responsible for components, Electro-Mechanical sub-assemblies and complex final assemblies of automated, robotic systems and devices.- Developed, and maintained protocols, process flows, work instructions, procedures, specifications and test plans, capturing and improving processes that were being passed down through ‘tribal knowledge’. Documentation crucial in efforts to become ISO certified.- Reviewed, updated, and maintained ECO / BOM structures, analyzed and performed make / buy activities, and dispositioned non-conformances, eliminating thousands of dollars in excess inventory. Dispositioned over 200 non-conformances (rework, use as is, or scrap), freeing up inventory and need to purchase additional parts.- Worked with suppliers, eliminating in-house 2nd operations as well as scrap and non-value added labor, saving $12K in labor hours while avoiding scrap.- Represented manufacturing engineering in bi-weekly engineering change order (ECO) review and approval meetings. Oversaw process improvement, assembly documentation, collaboration with R&D, progress reporting to senior management, and procedure / process auditing.- Provided leadership role in integration of efforts between Operations, and R&D in new product introduction (NPI).
