It has now been the longest I have worked at any organization/company and I can say that there is something truly fulfilling engaging with community partners to bring in resources for folks experiencing homelessness. I have a passion for helping people find a place to belong, and doing so in this avenue makes me feel at home by being able to bring people together by way of giving their most valuable resource, their time. Their time in volunteering, their time in collecting goods, donations, food, clothing, etc, and their time in learning about the real issues that people face with housing insecurity in the city of Los Angeles. There are many reasons someone might experience homelessness, with many of those reasons out of their control. LA Family Housing meets people where they are, and connects them with the resources they need to find housing, find stability, and most importantly, find home. On the flipside, I believe strongly in creating a work environment that engages each other and brings out the best in my team. We spend a 3rd of our life at work, it is my privilege to (hopefully!) make a space where my team feels respected, cared for, and empowered to do the work they love doing.
