Jimmy Lim assumed the role of Head of Engineering Underwriting Asia on 1 Oct 2017 and is responsible for both treaty and single risk construction reinsurance businesses in Asia region. He leads a team of sixteen highly trained construction underwriters stationing in Beijing, Seoul, Hong Kong, Singapore and Mumbai offices. Prior to this role, Jimmy was the Head of Engineering Underwriting Greater China and Japan.Under his leadership, Swiss Re's Asia Engineering team is recognized as one of Asia's top construction reinsurers providing good risk transfer solutions and client services to primary insurance companies for all types of construction projects. Demonstrating strong technical capabilities, the team provides high-quality standard risk management services to project owners / contractors and has often won the lead reinsurer role in many mega infrastructure construction projects.As part of Swiss Re’s vision to make the world more resilient, Jimmy and his team also focus on developing and promoting new insurance products that support the development of renewable energy projects. He is also experienced in Property Underwriting with a focus on heavy industrial operational risks in facilities such as power and petrochemical plants. An experienced Engineering Underwriter, he joined Swiss Reinsurance Co. Ltd. in 1998. He began his career in CLP Power as a mechanical engineer after graduated from University of Hong Kong with bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and was actively involved in many power plant construction projects.
