Jimmy in the lead aviation project manager for BHP responsible for the airports scope to support the establishment of a new copper/nickel mine in remote WA which comprises of two stages of airport development:1. A safety improvement program for existing Jameson and Warburton Airports to enable Dash 8 operations, including site works along with revised airport procedures, training and emergency preparedness.2. A new A320 capable aerodrome including CASA Certification, a low intensity lighting system, refuelling facility, weather station and terminal instrument flight procedures. Jimmy’s lead the project from site selection through to construction and operational readiness.Key project highlights were constructing the new airport pavements from mining overburden materials and deployment of new generation solar airfield lighting (S4GA).

This project comprised of the resurfacing of Adelaide Airport’s main runway and primary taxiway network as well as the replacement of the high intensity runway lighting system. Key highlights of the project were the high utilisation of Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP) and positive community stakeholder outcomes associated with aircraft noise.During the development phase, Jimmy provided specialist project management support including risk management, construction staging, operational readiness and asset digital strategy Jimmy was seconded to Adelaide Airport as Project Manager for the project during the delivery phase.

Jimmy was seconded part time to Brisbane Airport Corporation in the role of Development Lead responsible for development of concept designs and business cases working in close collaboration with BAC’s planning and delivery teams. The business cases include estimates and submissions used for funding negotiations with airlines. 12 month assignment with Australian Youth Ambassadors for Development (AYAD) - A position funded by AusAid. In this role I was positioned within a team of Earthquake Engineers where I participated in structural assessments of masonry and RC frame buildings. We worked with local engineers, masons, schools and community leaders in promoting earthquake safety and design practices. I helped deliver a revised method for performing Phase 1 structural assessment of RC frame buildings under 5 stories.

In this position I have participated in operations management of Adelaide International Airport including service delivery, security, facilities, safety, regulatory, financial and staffing aspects. I have managed a team of three experienced drafters. I developed the Parafield Airport Runways, Taxiways and Aprons Strategic Master Plan and managed the following civil-based projects:Runways and Taxiways Overlay Project - Project Manager for the largest airfield maintenance asphalt overlay conducted in Australia ($25M). National winner of the 2011 Australian Institute of Project Managers Project Management Achievement Awards for Construction/Engineering under $100M (SA and National) and recognised as the largest airfield LED light installation conducted in Australia at the time. The project later went on to win the Asia Pacific Federation of Project Management’s award for Construction Engineering less than $100m AUD.Parafield Aircraft Parking Apron - Scope, design, procurement and Superintendence of a new 6,000m2 spray sealed aircraft parking apron.Airfield Pavement Inspections - Detailed annual pavement inspections for Adelaide and Parafield Airports. Compilation of inspection reports comprising condition ratings, defect assessment, recommended treatments and associated capital and maintenance budgets.Adelaide Airport Flood Investigation - Development of a risk based assessment of flooding at Adelaide Airport using prepared flood maps.Pavement Concession System - Development of a new intranet based pavement concession system and associated procedure to facilitate the assessment, record and management of aircraft pavement overloads at Adelaide and Parafield Airports.Runway Jet Blast Erosion Investigation and Treatment - Geotechnical investigation, concept design, procurement and Superintendence of runway widening to prevent jet blast erosion.

As Civil Engineer I reported to the Airport Engineer and managed the following civil projects:Adelaide Airport New Helicopter Landing Site - Design, procurement and Superintendence of a new Helicopter Landing Site (HLS) including taxiway and lighting.Recycled Water Pump Facility - Design, procure and project manage the construction of a storage and pump facility supplying recycled water to irrigation and terminal toilets.Taxiway B2 Reconstruction - Project Manager for the investigation, design and reconstruction of a critical taxiway using rapid construction techniques.Surface Enrichment Investigation and Application - Trials using a range of asphalt surface enrichment products and application rates.
