James Owens is a student of investigative journalism at the University of Strathclyde with a 2:1 honours degree in history. He is currently being published as a freelance journalist in The Genn (Glasgow East and North News) and University paper, The Strathclyde Telegraph. Regularly blogs on political and cultural issues affecting Scotland and is an avid film buff, frequently writing film reviews. He currently works as a student mentor for secondary school leavers in and around Glasgow, advising students on the potential routes into further and higher education. During the Scottish referendum on independence he realised that his future lay in journalism. With this in mind, he aims to provide the best researched, fair and impartial reporting that is possible.
