Anesthesia Department Chair (October 2024 - Present)

Led the efforts that resulted in passage of official health policy legislation at the Zambian Ministry of Health, which created a new program to assess emergency, anesthetic, and surgical care capacity in the country.

Co-founded and led an organic lip balm company that donated a portion of proceeds to a charity in rural Ethiopia (Project Harar Ethiopia) that provides comprehensive surgical care to children with facial deformities. The product was featured in over 50 retailers, and the company funded life-changing surgery for 20 children born with cleft palate.

Managed pro-angiogenic studies for the treatment of Duchenne muscular dystrophy and drafted manuscripts in the laboratory of Dr. Atsushi Asakura

Carried out independent research project validating a novel treatment for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, which received more funding from a major pharmaceutical company to further pre-clinical studies.Presented research at Minnesota Muscle Symposium, Greg Marzolf Jr. Symposium, University of Minnesota Developmental Biology Symposium, University of Minnesota Undergraduate Research Symposium, and Cardiopalooza. Reviewed and edited grant and publication submissions.Two time recipient of funding from the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program.

Actively managed student projects in a teaching lab meant to mimic real world research experiences.Enhanced student understanding through in-lab presentations and technique demonstrations.Graded weekly assignments and assisted professors in both developing and grading projects and exams.
