Columnist
In January of 2008, while still a senior in college, I was hired as a columnist for the Adventist Review. My column has been entitled "Introducing the Why. The concept was something my college professor Chris Blake and I came up with while eating lunch at Valentino’s in Lincoln, Nebr. The premise was – and is – simple. Modern Christianity is too often characterized by outward appearances and fleeting emotions. Each month, my goal is to sift through the top-soil and get to the core of what it really means to walk with Jesus.Over the years, I’ve shared my thoughts on why we pray and go to church, why we care about justice, and how studying the life of Christ answers a lot of our questions – if we’re truly open to the answers. In addition to my monthly columns, I have published three cover stories centered on ways to retain young adults in the Adventist church. I have also written for Adventist World, including a feature on my trip to Haiti after the 2010 earthquake. My goal as a writer is "to tell powerful stories that inspire people to practical action." God is the real author -- I'm just the hand typing.
