Author/Speaker:Children'S Author Aug 2011 - PresentWith a little knowledge and direction you can greatly influence the quality and standard of service and treatment you and your family receive from the NHS. Most people take their health for granted until it is too late; in spite of knowing of a family member, or a friend who died as a result of misdiagnosis, the wrong treatment or poor quality care. We rarely learn from these experiences; indeed we continue blindly, leaving our health in the lap of the Gods or Doctors. A big mistake! We need to become more involved, more proactive and put our health and the health of our families at the top of our agenda. There are around 4,000 deaths in the UK each year as a result of Road Traffic Accidents. There are over 40,000 deaths in the UK each year as a result of Medical Mistakes in the NHS. The Government spend millions of pounds on advertising campaigns and education to help reduce the 4,000 deaths caused by road traffic accidents. Do you know how much the Government spends on similar campaigns to help reduce the 40,000 avoidable deaths in the NHS? Do you even know of the existence of any such campaigns? Interviewed on BBC Radio Ulster's Talkback Programme.Feature Articles in Northern Ireland's two leading newspapers: The Belfast Telegraph and The NewsletterAuthor: 'Don't Let The Health Service Kill You'
