Artek is a Finnish furniture design company founded in 1935 by the architect and designer couple Alvar and Aino Aalto, the arts patron Maire Gullichsen and the art historian and critic Nils-Gustav Hahl. For nearly 90 years, Artek has been manufacturing and distributing furniture and lighting classics by the Aaltos and other 20th century Finnish design masters, as well as developing new products with contemporary industrial designers. Since 2013, Artek has been part of Swiss family-owned Vitra Group, one of the most relevant global players in the furniture design industry, manufacturing and distributing design classics by iconic designers like Charles & Ray Eames, Jean Prouvé or Isamu Noguchi.Work centralizes around identifying opportunities and acting as a brand ambassador for Artek (and Vitra) within A&D, dealer and education communities.
